Character Name: Gwen Stacy
Series: The Amazing Spider-Man ( 2012, film )
Age: 17
From When?: right after she gives her dad the antidote and gets in the cop car. weh.

Inmate/Warden:
Warden! Gwen's pretty much as mature and responsible as a seventeen year-old can get. And she kind of expects that behavior not just from other kids her age, but everyone, ever. She's not a complete stick in the mud, but she can be, and she's definitely one of those people that's all about ~living up to your potential~ and is totally the type to say "you're better than that" or "I know you can do it". And actually mean it. Unironically.
Item: her Oscorp-issued iPad.

Abilities/Powers:
Gwen has no super-human abilities, but she is very bright for her age. She has her Oscorp training under her belt, but otherwise she's very much average and non-super-powered. Her main weaknesses are cute bug-boys that like science as much as she does, giant cups of hot cocoa, her father, and generally all the things that 17 year-olds are weakened by, like... break-ups and getting her iPad taken away.

Personality:
➞ SMART
"He's one of Midtown Science's best and brightest. He's second in his class."
"Second?"
"Yeah."
"You sure about that?"
"Pretty sure."

The first thing most people notice about Gwen is that she's a very mature, smart girl, something that comes both naturally to her and because she dedicates most ( if not all ) of her time to her studies, and her internship at Oscorp. She's a senior at Midtown Science High, top of her class, because she's worked for it, and she's very proud of the fact too. Gwen follows the rules, works hard, and encourages others to follow suit. She's also the Chief Intern at Oscorp, which shows us she's been working there for an extended period of time, and holds a fair amount of responsibilities there as well. Dr. Connors ( Gwen's mentor and head of the department, and quite clearly someone that she looks up to and respects ) entrusts her with a number of duties, such as assisting him with his lab work, and directing the newest interns through guided tours around the Oscorp labs.

When we're introduced to the character in the film, she convinces Flash Thompson to stop beating up Peter by bringing up the fact that she was very disappointed in his homework from the day before, asking Flash if they're still on for meeting up after school. So, essentially, she embarrasses the heck of out him without being outright cruel. This shows us two things: one, that she's Flash's after-school tutor, which means it's very likely either their teachers, or Flash's parents, trust Gwen to be a capable instructor, and 2) she's more than just book smart. She gets him to leave Peter alone by telling him to "get to class, I think we should go to class", instead of trying to stand up for Peter and simply taking his side, which might have made Flash even angrier. Later on in the film, Peter calls her to tell her that she needs to mix an antidote to counteract the Lizard serum, which she does! Quite quickly, in fact, and she mentions that Dr. Connors has her mix antidotes often enough that she feels confident that she can mix the cure they need. When she's waiting for the reptile antidote to finish and the Lizard makes its way into the Oscorp Tower, she sets off the fire alarms so the emergency fire-doors lower, giving her some time to hide not only herself, but the also Ganali device, which Dr. Connors was going to use to infect Manhattan with his Lizard serum. ..And alright, The Lizard might have found her and taken the device, but in doing so she bought Peter a little more time to get there, and also used a makeshift blowtorch to protect herself and keep the Lizard at bay. Smart!

➞ BRAVE ( AND MAYBE A LITTLE BRAZEN )
"The antidote is cooking -- there's eight minutes left -- I'm going to get everybody out."

The series of events at Oscorp also show us how brave she is. Peter tries to warn her, tells her to get out of the building because the Lizard is headed straight for it, but she refuses and instead sets the evacuation sequence into motion to get everyone else out as she waited for the antidote to finish. It's a choice she makes without hesitation, and maybe this is a trait she's picked up from her father, but she will always do what she feels is right if she knows she can help. She also comes to Peter's aid at the school, when the Lizard has Spider-Man pinned against one of the windows, by hitting him with a school trophy to try and distract him. Even after Peter told her to leave, get to safety, she clearly stuck around to make sure Peter was alright. Gwen isn't conceited, not really, but she does tend to act on her own impulses, ignoring the warnings of others in favor of them. She might be a stickler for rules, but the only time we really see her go against her gut and obey an order is when it's given by her father. Which I think is a matter of trust - she believes he really does know best. Another sign of her bravery, and her trust in Peter at least, is when she goes out swinging with him. Flying around the city on a synthetic biocable, with nothing but Peter's arm around her to keep her from falling to her death? Yeah, that's trust. And bravery. Though really, who could say no to that?

➞ COMPASSIONATE
"For as long as I can remember, my father- has left every morning and put a badge on his chest, and strapped a gun to his hip. And every day since I can remember, I haven't known if he was going to make it home."

Right from the start, we see that Gwen honestly just cares about people, both from the fact that she's a tutor, and because after Peter's fight with Flash, she makes sure he's okay, even suggests he goes to the nurse a number of times in case he has a concussion. At that point it seems that Gwen and Peter only really know each other by name ( and class rank... ) so it's telling that she took the initiative to break up the fight herself when nobody else did. Throughout the movie she asks about the bruises on his face - "What happened to your eye?" - and shows a genuine concern for him. Above all else, she really does care, very much, about the people she's close to. And even those she's not close to at all, as shown by how she makes sure the Oscorp building has been evacuated before the Lizard attacked, instead of leaving as quickly as she can as Peter suggested. Also, technically, the department in which she works is focusing on developing cross-species genetics, which will theoretically make it possible to embed certain animals' DNA ( and their healing abilities ) into humans, so that they can fight off disease and disabilities on their own. It's a very radical notion, but one built on the idea of helping people, and I think that's why she's so invested in the program.

But on a more personal level, through the development of her relationship with Peter, we see that she has the capacity to be a very good listener, trustworthy enough to keep Peter's Spidey-Secret ( even from her father! ), and even helps Peter clean up his wounds after another fight with the Lizard. While she tries to patch up his wounds, she talks about how nervous she is about all of this, how it's kind of the same as how she feels about her father. She's a worrier, that much is clear, that even though she puts on a brave face, she cares a lot about the well-being of her friends and family.

➞ BUT STILL A TEENAGER
"No, I do not want hot chocolate. Honestly, I'm seventeen years old."

Above all else, there are a number of times that even through her shining moments of bravery and brilliance, we're reminded of the fact that Gwen is still very much a seventeen year-old girl. She's not shy, but she does have her moments of vulnerability, finding herself a little tongue-tied when Peter starts ( trying ) to ask her out for the first time, fidgeting and fussing with her notebook, even twirling in place when there's a lull in the conversation. She's forward in a playful way, teasing Peter about showing up at Oscorp, "Are you you following me? Then why are you here?", and making jokes about how her father thinks he needs psychiatric help after his visit to the police station, but for the most part it's very obvious she doesn't exactly know what she's doing when it comes to dating or anything even remotely like it. She's got a crush, that's clear, but what even do.

When eating dinner with her family, we see not only the level of respect Gwen has for her dad, ( and are shown that, apparently, Gwen's parents are rich and her three little brothers know how to cut fancy fish better than Peter ) but how bashful she can get during potentially awkward situations. She manages to cut the conversation short, before it gets too heated, but only after a few bouts of awkward laughter. She has a tendency to ramble when she's flustered, and make quirky jokes when she's trying to move a conversation along. Also! We find out that Gwen loves chocolate. Loves. Chocolate. Has even said she wants to live in a chocolate house, according to her dad. But then she counters that accusation by saying it's impractical. And fattening. Honestly, she's seventeen years old.

Barge Reactions:
Gwen's going to be pretty overwhelmed by everything! Even after asking the Admiral a million questions ( which she will ) and recap any answers he gives her about five times each ( which she will ), she's still going to be kind of shocked that it's all happening, for real. She'll probably spend a good amount of time just keeping to herself at first, because even though she's getting ready for college and preparing herself to live alone and Be an Adult, it's still going to be really weird for her to be away from her family, especially right in the middle of all the crazy lizard business.

When it comes to meeting the other people there, OOC wise I don't think there'll be any 4th wall shenanigans. Marvel is pretty good at keeping modern-day pop culture things out of the worlds, and this Spider-Man movie isn't part of the giant MCU, so she won't know any of those characters that might be in the game. ICly! She'll be really polite to just about anyone she meets here, inmate or warden, no matter what age they are. She's going to take her warden duties suuuuper seriously, and probably be a little judgey of those that don't. She won't step on any toes with how people go about their warden responsibilities, but if asked, she'll probably have a lot to say about the matter.

When it comes to ports, she's going to handle most magic/supernatural things the same way she would handle any passengers with magic/supernatural backgrounds - not outright rejecting or denying that it's real, but she's going to ask a million questions, and try so hard to explain it with science and logic. It will probably take her a looong time to get past that, or accept that sometimes things can't just be explained with an equation.

Also yeah, having Peter here will help her adjust, for sure. She would try to handle everything with grace by herself, but there's definitely going to be a sense of oh thank god when she sees that he's here and she's not just like, actually secretly gone crazy or something. So that's kind of cool! Basically she'll have a short while of "oh my god is this really happening", but after that, and once she gets assigned an inmate, she'll try and get involved and do her part here.

History:
The first time we're introduced to Gwen Stacy, it's through Peter Parker's camera lens. Literally. He snaps a photo of her sitting outside for whatever non-stalker reasons he has, and we don't see her again until she's breaking up the fight between Peter and Flash Thompson, Midtown Science High's resident bully, after Peter stood up to the bigger kid while he was picking on someone else as everyone watched. She only spares Parker a quick glance before she's rushing Flash inside, successfully breaking up the fight without a fuss. We're shown right away that that's just how she is, very direct and professional about things when she has to be. Next we're brought into the classroom with Peter and Gwen, during which time she tells him that she thinks what he did for their classmate was 'great. stupid, but great'. She asks him for his name, not because she doesn't know it ( of course she does seeing as they're first and second in the class ) but she wants to make sure that he knows it, to prove that he doesn't have a concussion. Even after he gets the answer correct, she still insists that he should go see the school nurse.

Later that day, while helping Uncle Ben clear out the basement due to a minor pipe-burst-flood, Peter finds an old briefcase that used to belong to his father. At first he thinks there isn't anything important inside, but eventually he notices there's a hidden compartment in the back containing an old file filled with some of his father's research on cross-breed genetics. The briefcase also contains a photo of his father and his scientific research partner, Dr Curt Connors, who he decides he'll try and get in touch with by making his way to Oscorp. Which is, incidentally, where Gwen works as the chief intern of the experimental research department, under the tutelage of Dr. Connors, who explains that he has been trying to use this theory of cross-species genetics to implant himself with lizard DNA to grow back his right arm ( trust me, this is relevant ). She notices Peter after he sneaks into the building under the guise of a new intern to the program, and while she doesn't out him to Dr. Connors, she does warn him to not get her in trouble, and stay in the group. But only after she suggests that he's following her, because why else would Peter be there? ( Let's ignore that Peter gives her the perfect answer - "Because I love Science" - which I think is what makes Gwen see him in a whole new sexy light. It's so not important. No. There are definitely more important things than who Gwen may or may not have a crush on. ) Naturally he doesn't stick with the tour group, and once Gwen finds him again, she asks him to hand over the intern badge he stole borrowed, and asks him to leave.

-- Well, maybe not that much more important stuff going on for Gwen besides her crush, because the next time we see her, she's finding Peter in the hallway after being brought to the principal's office for shattering the backboard of the gym's basketball hoop, and humiliating Flash Thompson ( by abusing his spiderbilities, not that she knows that ). She asks him if he was expelled, and after he explains that no, he only has community service, he proceeds to ask her out. Sort of. They never actually make plans, but the interest is certainly there, and eventually ( after a few days... ) she asks him to join her family for dinner.

The dinner goes... not so great. Gwen introduces Peter to her father, Police Captain George Stacy, and the dinner conversation quickly shifts to the topic of the masked vigilante known as Spider-Man. Peter tries to explain that he thinks Spider-Man is doing the community a favor, going after criminals, while George firmly believes that the man behind the mask is working on revenge, not out of a desire to protect the people of NYC, and therefore must be stopped. ( Meanwhile, not the Gwen actually knows, the accusation is true. Peter is targeting criminals with shoulder-length blonde hair, trying to find the man that killed his Uncle Ben ). The argument gets a bit heated, but eventually Gwen breaks it up, taking Peter outside for some fresh air. She thinks they'll just use this time to cool down, try and convince him to come back inside, but instead he tells her that he has to make a confession.

Naturally, she believes he's going to admit he has feelings for her, and she pushes the conversation along excitedly. "I've been bitten," he tells her. "So've I," she replies so not freaking getting it. When he eventually starts to flake, she turns away from him, not wanting to hear why he can't just tell her, which is when Peter uses his webshooter to catch her by the hip and pull her in for a kiss. It's really romantic. Even though, as she's trying to verbally sort out that Peter is SPIDER-MAN, he tells her to shut up and keeps kissing her. Eventually Mrs. Stacy comes out onto the roof to call Gwen back inside, and Peter makes a quick exit by jumping off of the roof.

"Oh, I'm in trouble."

The next time we see Gwen is also the second time Peter gets into a hideous fight with the reptilian menace that's terrorizing NYC - The Lizard. After attempting to capture some photos of the giant lizard-man, and getting himself badly injured, Peter makes his way to Gwen's house to get patched up, seeing as he can't exactly make his way to the emergency room without ousting himself as Spider-Man. She manges to convince her dad to leave her alone in her room after using "really bad cramps" as an excuse to not join her family for cocoa, and proceeds to help Peter clean out his wounds. They share an intimate moment here, ( well, nose nudges and face touchies, mostly ) during which time Gwen admits that this all makes her very nervous, the idea of Peter getting into this kind of trouble on a daily basis. That she knows why she feels that way - it's the same worry that comes with having a police officer for a father, but eventually he convinces her that he'll be okay, that he just has to stop the Lizard because he helped create him ( which I'm PRETTY sure clues Gwen in on the fact that Connors = the Lizard, because she HAS been working with the man on cross-breed genetics, lizards specifically, for X amount of time, but it's never stated directly ), and by the end of the conversation, he's managed to convince her to to out with him, spider-swinging around the city. Woo! Fun times!

The next day, after Dr. Connors learns that Peter Parker is Spider-Man, the Lizard attacks Midtown High, and even manages to get Peter pinned against the breezeway window, when Gwen appears! Armed with a giant trophy! And manages to whack the Lizard with it just once, just enough to get its attention ( also, let it be noted here that the Lizard shouts "Gwen!!", c'mon, she knows it's Connors. how else would he know who she is? ), before Spider-Man gets back on his feet and temporarily traps the Lizard in a ton of webbing. While he tries to fight his way out of that, Peter sends Gwen out of the window, hanging by a string of webbing, safe and sound.

Once she gets helped down by the police, she calls Peter, who's decided to follow the Lizard into the sewers to try and stop him once and for all. During which time, he finds out Connor plans on releasing the same serum he used on himself to turn himself into the Lizard, so he asks Gwen to get to Oscorp and work on an antidote, something to fight the toxin. She heads straight for the building, no questions asked, and proceeds to cook said antidote. Not long after, she receives another call from Peter, who tells her to get out of the building because the Lizard is headed straight for it, but seeing as the antidote is still cooking - "just eight minutes" - she instead tells Peter she's going to make sure everyone gets out of the building, and much to his dismay, hands up the phone before he has a chance to protest much more than he already has.

Unfortunately, the Lizard gets to Oscorp before Peter does. So, she hides. After setting off the fire alarms and putting the building into lock-down mode. She hides herself ( and the machine needed to release the toxin into the city air ) in one of the vents, which lasts... a little while, but eventually the Lizard sniffs her out, only managing to grab the device when she aims a makeshift torch at his face in an attempt of defending herself. Ultimately, she fails in deterring him much at all. But at least he left her alone to do his evil bidding?

Eventually the police arrive on the scene, and Gwen reluctantly hands over the completed antidote to her father, telling him to please make sure Spider-Man gets it. To make sure he understands how important this is to her, that he knows, he tells her that "he knows her boyfriend is a man of many masks" and she finally agrees to get into the police car and get to safety, but only after asking the captain to make sure Spider-Man is okay. Which is really sad considering how everything turns out, womp womp.
