[ Gwen starts her awkward video with an awkward wave. hellooo~ no, she's not completely comfortable sending out a public video message to a group of strangers, but she knows it's necessary. if she's going to be an effective warden, she needs to get to know the other people here, even if there are a lot of them. ..not that she gets shy around large groups of people! no, she's gotten over that, sort of, since she started her internship at Oscorp. but it's still a little intimidating, isn't it? this isn't a group of high school kids, it's a group of- well, anyone. so there's some awkwardness here. definitely. ]

Hi, hello. My name is Gwen Stacy - [ head intern here at Oscorp Industries no wait, don't go on autopilot, this isn't work ] - and I'm new here. On the ship. Newish. [ there were two days of quiet oh god this is real panicking in her room before this moment ] I haven't been paired up with anyone just yet, but I will be a warden. That said, I do have a few questions about the kinds of things that go on here, semi-regularly, at least.

Back home, I was just a few weeks away from my high school graduation ceremony. Which, yes, means I'm technically done with classes, but it feels kind of wrong not to at least try and keep up on studying while I'm here? I might not know when I'll be going back, but I'd rather not be completely rusty when I'm about to head off to college, you know? So.

So I guess what I'm trying to ask - [ yes geeze stop rambling ] - is if there are any classes that go on regularly here? I know we have classrooms, but I haven't come across any kind of class ..schedule yet. I was wondering if there is anything like that here, or if anyone would be interested in maybe starting some kind of study group? [ she's prepared for all that "what a dork" reactions, she is. but. there's that. this is what she cares about, yep ] One with no specific subjects in mind, but just- something to keep us sharp. I'm more of a science and math focused student, but I would be up for just about anything, at this point. I was a tutor, back home, so I would also be up for running any sessions, if nobody else was up for it. At least until I'm assigned an inmate, then I'll have to see if I have time for it, and-

[ hup. no. stopping herself there. she nods, huffs, grins. ]

[ ehh not 100% buying it, but she's not about to call anybody a liar ]

How do you know it's going to happen?

[lastrat]

[He exhales silently because really, no one completely buys it until they're in the middle of things. He's already kicking himself for this, though the reminder that he owes Parker at least a little bit keeps him from just bailing.]

Bloody clothes found in the wash, messages written on mirrors, a network malfunction. Look back on the network, you'll see people start to lose their heads.

[ she totally will do that, but for now ]

How is something like that possible? If the Admiral can somehow alter our timelines in exchange for our time here, how can he allow something like that to happen to us?

[lastrat]

[He actually has to suppress a laugh at that, and it comes out as half a snort.]

You're on a ship in uncharted space, with gravity and bloody climate control, and you want to know how something is possible?

[interns]

I mean, because of all that- [ hhhhuff ] I would have assumed the Admiral could prevent that sort of thing, too.

[lastrat]

[His Barge life is APPARENTLY to make teenagers huff. This is what he does in place of killing people and stealing state secrets. It's so rewarding.]

He's a terrible driver.

[interns]

Uh huh.

[ a pause ]

So, this might be a bit of a jump, but are you a ..friend of Peter's, too? I'm just wondering if that's the case, or if you always give new passengers such a warm welcome.

[ it's not QUITE at full sass capacity, but. it's hinting at it. a little bit. ]

[lastrat]

[Bond appreciates sass, though his mouth just twitches at the corner. Turn it up to eleven, Gwen.]

He was my warden. Usually, I try to avoid the new ones.

[interns]

Really?

[ that sssshhhouldn't interest her as much as it does, should it? woops. but then, in a weird roundabout way, she has a reason to thank him. ..maybe. ]

Do you know if you were his first inmate?

[lastrat]

[Bond knows what Peter's deal was for, and it was only because of a bad port that he didn't smack Peter upside the head for not just saving his uncle and going home. James is a very....do as I say, not as I do sort.]

I was.

[So help him if she gets emotional he's disconnecting. Probably. Maybe.]

[interns]

[ it's not totally emotional, but that makes her grin and it's not at all subtle. it's this big, sunshine-y smile of gratitude ]

Then, in a way, I owe you a thank you. You helped saved my father's life.

[lastrat]

[augh AUGH gwen stop. stop it. that is not allowed. No smiling or gratitude in his presence gdi.]

It was Parker's deal. [He is feigning absolute nonchalance, he's totally not uncomfortable. (He's a little uncomfortable.)]

[interns]

[ how can she stop she's just so happyyyy ]

Which he wouldn't have been able to make good on if you hadn't worked with him.

So thank you. For- being cooperative, and graduating. And congratulations, too.

[lastrat]

[Happiness is not allowed unless it's found in a stiff martini, okay.]

It was a long time ago. [Just let him wave this off damn it!!]

Well I only just got here. But fine, don't accept my thanks, or my praise. I'll just keep it all to myself.
