[ Gwen starts her awkward video with an awkward wave. hellooo~ no, she's not completely comfortable sending out a public video message to a group of strangers, but she knows it's necessary. if she's going to be an effective warden, she needs to get to know the other people here, even if there are a lot of them. ..not that she gets shy around large groups of people! no, she's gotten over that, sort of, since she started her internship at Oscorp. but it's still a little intimidating, isn't it? this isn't a group of high school kids, it's a group of- well, anyone. so there's some awkwardness here. definitely. ]

Hi, hello. My name is Gwen Stacy - [ head intern here at Oscorp Industries no wait, don't go on autopilot, this isn't work ] - and I'm new here. On the ship. Newish. [ there were two days of quiet oh god this is real panicking in her room before this moment ] I haven't been paired up with anyone just yet, but I will be a warden. That said, I do have a few questions about the kinds of things that go on here, semi-regularly, at least.

Back home, I was just a few weeks away from my high school graduation ceremony. Which, yes, means I'm technically done with classes, but it feels kind of wrong not to at least try and keep up on studying while I'm here? I might not know when I'll be going back, but I'd rather not be completely rusty when I'm about to head off to college, you know? So.

So I guess what I'm trying to ask - [ yes geeze stop rambling ] - is if there are any classes that go on regularly here? I know we have classrooms, but I haven't come across any kind of class ..schedule yet. I was wondering if there is anything like that here, or if anyone would be interested in maybe starting some kind of study group? [ she's prepared for all that "what a dork" reactions, she is. but. there's that. this is what she cares about, yep ] One with no specific subjects in mind, but just- something to keep us sharp. I'm more of a science and math focused student, but I would be up for just about anything, at this point. I was a tutor, back home, so I would also be up for running any sessions, if nobody else was up for it. At least until I'm assigned an inmate, then I'll have to see if I have time for it, and-

[ hup. no. stopping herself there. she nods, huffs, grins. ]

I guess it depends on what's offered. I've done biology before though, so probably not that.

Oh, you've already done Biology, okay. [ she probably shouldn't joke like this with people that she doesn't even know, people that aren't Peter, but it comes up before she really things about it. she's grinning though, so it's obvious she's being a smartass. ..well, she hopes it's obvious.

this is it, this is how Gwen Stacy loses her new friends the same day she met them. ] So you've already learned all there is to know about Biology. That's- kind of incredibly, actually.

[fortunately, Stiles is very, very familiar with things like sarcasm and being a smart ass. Not that long ago, he could have majored in it. It makes him grin a little when he recognizes it from her.]

I am pretty incredible. [And he hopes it's obvious in his voice that he's joking, too, because he might be a little rusty when it comes to light-hearted things.] No, but really -- biology involved a lot of dissecting of things and I'm not a big fan of...that. [He doesn't do well with things like blood and guts, whether they're human or animal, really.]

I'm more of a chemistry and physics kind of guy.

Chemistry, alright. [ a slow nod, big smiles. ] Biochem is my favorite. Although that's vague, in a way, so. Molecular biology. No, mm- Yeah. Yes. Molecular biology is my absolute favorite branch of science. Most recently, at least. They're all related, anyway. Genetics, biochem, and molecular biology.

I'm the same with dissection, it's never my favorite part of the job. Luckily a lot of Oscorp's technology can be used for 3D mapping most test subjects.

[He perks up a little when she mentions genetics, because that's one that definitely interests him. Not necessarily for typical reasons, but reasons nonetheless.]

I think I could probably handle 3D dissection. Plus, you don't even have to smell the formaldehyde, which is a huge plus. I have a sensitive nose. [He grins. His nose isn't as sensitive as say, Scott's, but he doubts too many people think that formaldehyde smells good.]

That is a huge plus, you're right. The 3D dissection is kind of great, if not a little frustrating sometimes. Technology can glitch in a way that an actual body can't. But, um. Anyway.

[ because she can maybe talk about biology all day, but. no. not the best ice breaker! ]

Do you know if anybody's tried to figure out the science of this place? The Barge? I mean, somebody's bound to have asked 'how' by now, right?

[That made sense, even if he'd still prefer dissecting via technology and chancing the glitches. At least it wouldn't make him do something embarrassing like throw up or pass out. And yes, he's done both.

Stiles perks up at the mention of the science of the Barge. He's not to the point of considering it science per say, but he's definitely been asking questions -- mostly of poor Scott so far -- and he's definitely interested in trying to figure it all out, if possible. Or any of it really.]

I've been asking questions since I got here. So far it's a lot of 'no one's really sure' kind of answers. Oh, has anyone told you about the mystery comas yet? That's a thing that happens here, too.

Nno. Nothing about a mystery coma.

Well, I don't know a lot other than at random times anyone -- warden or inmate -- can be struck by a coma and just...sleep for weeks at a time. And then wake up one day completely fine. I haven't talked to enough people that have had it happen to try and determine if there's a pattern or anything. Yet.

For weeks? Do we know what can trigger something like that? That just seems like such a weird- thing, to happen. Of all the side effects of being put on a boat like this, sudden coma isn't the first repercussion I would have guessed.

Not a clue. And yeah, it wouldn't have been my first guess either. This place is...definitely strange.

Mm. [ nodnodnod ] How long have you been here? If you don't mind me asking.

I don't mind. [He gives her a small smile.] About three weeks now. So not very long. I'm still kinda...trying to figure things out, I guess.
