Hi Mason, this is Gwen Stacy, your temporary Warden. I was wondering if maybe you wanted to meet up some time, get to know each other a little bit? You're my first Inmate assignment, but I've got a lot of ideas and I'm really looking forward to getting to know you and work with you.
Let me know when you'd like to meet!

[ Gwen, as she's been taken to doing most days since she arrived here, will most likely be found in the library on the fifth level, reading and taking notes on whatever's managed to catch her interest that day. studying, yes, just for the sake of doing so. there might not be any exams here, but she's still interested in learning, still wants to keep herself sharp. if she were at home, she'd have a very NO INTERRUPTIONS, PLEASE vibe going on about her, deeply focused on her books, but here she's gotten into the habit of looking up every once in a while, seeing who else spends their time here and seeing how they choose to utilize it. it's interesting!
either that or she'll be in the cafeteria getting her meal on, and most times she'll be there with Peter Parker, but sometimes she heads down alone, just to grab a snack. which is probably some form of chocolate, if she can get her hands on it. she's most likely sitting alone, like a loner geek kid at school, because that's totally what she is. and she's fine with that. but seriously, come sit with her, she would like company more than she'd ever admit. ]

If you'd like to, sure. I don't mind. Makes sense for you to get to know me, too.
First question! Where are you from, and what do you do? Professionally, or not. What were you up to before you got to the Barge?
[Text/Locked]
Originally? London, love. But recently, Seattle. See, I got moved around. Shuffled, post-mortem. I'm a grim reaper. Professionally-speaking. As for what I do otherwise, it's a bit of back and forth at the moment.
Now, you. What's a girl like you wanting to make deals with fucked-up mysterious eldritch horrors for, anyway? What's it you're getting out of this?
[Text/Locked]
I asked the Admiral to undo a mistake my mentor made. Something that's putting the whole city in danger, where I'm from. It's really just a minor change, one small difference could stop the whole thing, so that's what I asked for.
You became a grim reaper after you died? How does that work? I always thought there was only one Grim Reaper.

Thassa very noble thing, Gwenny. Good on you. Me, I'd wish for millions of dollars but I expect that's why I'm an inmate and not a warden.
Nah. It isn't like Santa Claus where he can do all the dead people around the world in one go. Issjust me, and guys like me. Winning the Shit Lottery, so to speak.
[Text/Locked]
Millions of dollars, huh? I'm not sure what I would do with millions of dollars. Maybe if I get to ask him for a second favor, it would be to pay for my college tuition. Peter's too. And my brothers! I have no idea how my mom is going to put all three of them through college.
[ hmm how to word her next question ]
Becoming a reaper in your world, is that like being brought here as an Inmate? Is it meant as a sort of rehabilitation?
[Text/Locked]
It's not anything. It's just, your number comes up. A reaper reaps enough souls, then it's time for him to finally go where they all get to go, and please don't ask me what magical number that is because no one fuckin' knows.
An' his last reap becomes the new reaper. I was some bloke's last reap. Ergo, I take his place. You don't want it to be redemption, anyway, all these sadists runnin' around in charge of other people's souls. Would be awful.
...Do I really look like I need that much redemption?

[ was that a joke? that was a joke ]
Looks can be deceiving.

Okay, here's a tricky one - why do YOU think you're here? Did the Admiral tell you why, or did he just bring you here?
[Text/Locked]
Thassan easy one, though. I'm here because I killed Ray, Ray who did not have a Post-It and was not supposed to die.
[Text/Locked]
You mean you took his soul?
[Text/Locked]
I mean.
Look, everyone's slated to die at some point or another, and we know about it ahead of time. It's all in a book I'm not allowed to see.
I killed someone. An' they weren't in the book. I fucked with fate.
An' his life, but that's sort of a lesser offense in the grand scheme of things.

I'm not trying to grill you or anything, I don't think the Admiral would bring someone here if they were just a coldblooded murderer and nothing more, but I'm curious. You just don't seem like the type to actually... find it in yourself to kill someone.

But he was hurting Daisy. Not...life-threatening hurting, an' it's not like she isn't a reaper with glorious healing ability, right?
He was hurting her an' I put a stop to it an' didn't stop hurting him until he was dead.
Except he was not supposed to be dead. No one had his Post-It. He was not meant to die an' I've upset a balance somewhere an' I'm paying for it by being here.
no subject
Okay, no more questions about that. I promise.
That might be part of why you're here, but I don't think it's a direct punishment for it. That's one event, one decision. [ she almost said "mistake" but that doesn't seem fair to say. ..it was a mistake, it sounds like he tried to stop someone from hurting another person and just didn't stop, right. that's a mistake, not a conscious decision, as far as she's concerned ] A decision that a lot of people have made in the past, but they all didn't show up here.
Coming to terms with that might be part of why you're here, but that's not all you are, I'm sure. There's more to you - good and bad - that the Admiral sought you out for.
Moving on - what's your favorite type of music? Do you have a favorite movie?

Oh, that's an easy one. Rock and roll. I grew up, right, in the best years of it. I love rock.
Movies are a bit trickier. I liked the Day The Earth Stood Still, that came out when I was a kid. I remember being twelve and going to see it for the first time.
no subject
That movie came out in the 40s, didn't it? 50s?
Wait, how old are you? What year was it when you died?
Is that a weird question? Sorry. You don't have to answer that if you don't want to, it's not important.

1951, if I recall correctly. And I was 27 and it was 1966 when I died. And...2004 was when I came here. So depending on who you ask, I'm either 27 or 65. Fuck, I'm an old man.
Nah, I don't mind it. I like questions about death. It's my speciality.
