Hi Mason, this is Gwen Stacy, your temporary Warden. I was wondering if maybe you wanted to meet up some time, get to know each other a little bit? You're my first Inmate assignment, but I've got a lot of ideas and I'm really looking forward to getting to know you and work with you.
Let me know when you'd like to meet!

[ Gwen, as she's been taken to doing most days since she arrived here, will most likely be found in the library on the fifth level, reading and taking notes on whatever's managed to catch her interest that day. studying, yes, just for the sake of doing so. there might not be any exams here, but she's still interested in learning, still wants to keep herself sharp. if she were at home, she'd have a very NO INTERRUPTIONS, PLEASE vibe going on about her, deeply focused on her books, but here she's gotten into the habit of looking up every once in a while, seeing who else spends their time here and seeing how they choose to utilize it. it's interesting!
either that or she'll be in the cafeteria getting her meal on, and most times she'll be there with Peter Parker, but sometimes she heads down alone, just to grab a snack. which is probably some form of chocolate, if she can get her hands on it. she's most likely sitting alone, like a loner geek kid at school, because that's totally what she is. and she's fine with that. but seriously, come sit with her, she would like company more than she'd ever admit. ]

[Work helps. She prepares lunch with Ben and Mira, and, in doing so, in the cocoon of habit, feels very nearly safe as houses. She helps serve sometimes, too, and when she does she learns the new faces.]
[Gwen shows up so often, and always seems to be smiling. Abigail doesn't trust it. But she is trying to dive into the jaws of the lion, and sometimes the lion is . . . other girls, girls like Marissa, girls like Gwen.]
[So she shows up at Gwen's table as lunch starts clearing out, her fingers trailing against the table's edge as she glances sideways in a questioning way.]
Are you leaving? [Or can she sit?]
no subject
Should I be?
[ she recognizes her as one of the Inmates that helps serve lunch, so maybe she's asking on a professional level! or something. but yeahno that's ridiculous, and Gwen's nose scrunches up as she shakes her head, making it obvious she realized she misread her ]
You can sit here, if you want to. I'm not waiting for anyone.
no subject
[She does boggle a little at the question.]
No? I mean, it's everybody's table.
[With a wary sideways look, she slides into the seat across from Gwen and folds her hands.]
You're Gwen. You're new.
no subject
That's right.
[ oh hey she's not the only one that cruises the network but doesn't always actually respond to the things she sees on there. ]
And you're the girl who doesn't want to hide anymore.
[ that's what she remembers, that's what sticks out. though she sounds more impressed than anything else, and there's no deliberate look down to her neck or anything - she's noticed the scar, and she isn't phased by it. maybe curious, and there's some part of her that will always be concerned when it comes to injuries or scars or whatever else, but it's not a big deal. not in a negative way, at least ]
I didn't catch your name.

You are one of the nice ones, yes? One of the not-yelling ones? Look, just because I get into a bit of trouble now and again does not make me a terrible person.
[Text/Locked]
My first idea! Is a sort of back and forth Q&A, if you're up for it. I'd like to get to know you.
[Text/Locked]
Issat right? I mean, yeah. Sure. Go for it. And I get to ask questions too, yes?
[Text/Locked]
If you'd like to, sure. I don't mind. Makes sense for you to get to know me, too.
First question! Where are you from, and what do you do? Professionally, or not. What were you up to before you got to the Barge?

She is, however, still ten feet higher than she should be, and as she loses her balance a spill of paperbacks with arty covers flies out and spills onto Gwen's space. Touko stares from her perch and for a moment pretends this hasn't just happened before scrambling down herself.]
[lmk if the sudden invasion is okay]
ahaha this is great!
Are you okay?
[ she's whispering, despite how loud the rain of books just was, she's assuming sommmmeeething must have startled the girl, or- something. there must be a very good explanation for this, surely. ]

[She never knows how to respond to questions from people she doesn't know, even if she knows they're part of the grand social exchange, so instead she crouches to gather the books that landed on the floor. Re-shelving them was a stupid idea. She should have left them where they were, so no one could read anything she'd written and-
She cuts off the recriminations with an old friend: externalizing her annoyance.]
But that doesn't mean this is part of my job!

Now he's considerably more awake, carrying a tray of food and looking for Stiles or Lydia or anyone, really, but when he spots Gwen alone he heads over to her table instead. He pauses, gestures at one of the chairs like he's trying to be polite and thinks maybe it's lame or awkward, but at least his smile is earnest.]
Do you mind if I sit?
no subject
[ she even sits up very straight and gestures to the chair he's indicated, all very teacherly. right up until she's grinning and sitting back in her seat again so she can get back to her food in front of her. ]
It's good to see you. How're things?
no subject
Pretty good, I guess. [Good enough that he is digging into his sandwich with gusto, don't mind him. At least he's.......mostly avoiding talking with his mouth full.]
I think I saw you in the library before. Were you studying?
no subject
Oh, yeah, sort of. I'm not sure it counts as studying when I'm just reading for the sake of appeasing my own curiosity. The science texts are surprisingly similar to those from home.

But it's inevitable that sometimes you will run into someone else in here, and so she winds up finding Gwen during one of these study sessions while on the hunt for a new book of her own. Elsa's spent a lot of time reading since coming to the Barge, and she's always been interested in science. There's just so much more of it here than there was at home, so when she spots the stack of books Gwen's got with her and then gets a smile from the other blonde, she kind of can't help but ask.
After hesitating a beat, of course.]
Do you mind if I ask what you're reading?
no subject
[ she presses her thumb to the page she's on so she can shut the book and check out the cover, twisting her mouth a bit before she looks back up at her ]
I was so sure it would be different than the bio books I have back home, but it's not really. Most of the principles are the same, only the examples of everything are different. I guess that makes sense though, what with the whole- multiverse idea of this place.

[Which is actually maybe a little strange, but it's not like she'd ever been introduced to the concept of alternate universes before coming here.]
We're all breathing oxygen, aren't we?

Crap. Well, it looks like she's going to have to sit at the same table as someone...relatively safe.
Head turning she scopes the room, and her eyes alight on Gwen. Close to her own age, not overtly scary or somehow looking crazy or mean. And, she thinks she might have talked to her before.
It wasn't the best conversation, compared to some of the others she's talked to, but. It could have been worse. She heads over, holding her tray.]
Um, hey. Do you mind if I...?
no subject
[ she shakes her head, a little surprised, but not enough to outwardly question it. she definitely remembers talking to the other girl on the network when she arrived here - it's hard to forget someone that talked about showing up here just after being shot. so she sits up a bit, scoots her tray back towards her like there isn't already plenty of room on the table for her to set her stuff down. ]
-- What's up?
no subject
She plays with her food more than acts like she has any plans on eating it. And there's not really enough on there to count as a meal - more like snacks strung together to something that might be halfway filling.
She looks up, slightly startled by Gwen's voice.]
What? I, uh. Nothing. Not really. Why, why do you ask?

...I didn't want to jump over your 'ead, 'cause I'd be breaking knees if any bugger tried that with me. Let us know what you think, eh?
[video/private/forward dated after Mason's post]
[ her gut reaction to giving him alcohol is NO, but if he's agreed to it... maybe it's not such a bad suggestion. it wouldn't be her first option, but. well. hm. and then there's the parts about weed- ]
If that sort of deal will motivate him to get into a sort of set routine, I'm not against it. I don't- [ she doesn't know if Mason has an addiction problem of any kind, she didn't ask. she also isn't sure she knows how to help someone with an addiction to ..anything, really. so, that's a little intimidating. ] It can be temporary. If he spends more time intoxicated than sober, than I'm going to have to say no to all of it. But I'm willing to wait and see how he handles it.
[video/private/forward dated after Mason's post]
Good instincts in there, though. 'E saw someone being 'urt and tried to make it stop, at least. It's amazing 'ow many people wouldn't.
Thanks, Gwen love. You settling all right?
