Hi Mason, this is Gwen Stacy, your temporary Warden. I was wondering if maybe you wanted to meet up some time, get to know each other a little bit? You're my first Inmate assignment, but I've got a lot of ideas and I'm really looking forward to getting to know you and work with you.

[ Gwen, as she's been taken to doing most days since she arrived here, will most likely be found in the library on the fifth level, reading and taking notes on whatever's managed to catch her interest that day. studying, yes, just for the sake of doing so. there might not be any exams here, but she's still interested in learning, still wants to keep herself sharp. if she were at home, she'd have a very NO INTERRUPTIONS, PLEASE vibe going on about her, deeply focused on her books, but here she's gotten into the habit of looking up every once in a while, seeing who else spends their time here and seeing how they choose to utilize it. it's interesting!

either that or she'll be in the cafeteria getting her meal on, and most times she'll be there with Peter Parker, but sometimes she heads down alone, just to grab a snack. which is probably some form of chocolate, if she can get her hands on it. she's most likely sitting alone, like a loner geek kid at school, because that's totally what she is. and she's fine with that. but seriously, come sit with her, she would like company more than she'd ever admit. ]

[Even if it's been months since she hid them in her closer, Touko still remembers where all of her own books were shelved. It doesn't look weird if she's high up on a ladder - this is her job, she's here more than anyone who isn't Chromie - and even if they're about ten feet higher up than they should be, her conscience has been nagging her almost since the day she took them down.

She is, however, still ten feet higher than she should be, and as she loses her balance a spill of paperbacks with arty covers flies out and spills onto Gwen's space. Touko stares from her perch and for a moment pretends this hasn't just happened before scrambling down herself.]

[ Gwen barely holds in her yelp of surprise when that first book slaps down on the table in front of her, the rest following shortly after in a flutter of paperbacks. her hands sort of splay out in front of her, like she's not sure if she should be getting ready to run or- what. she's not sure what happened, she was completely absorbed in her book. but eventually she looks up, just in time to see someone coming down from a ladder leading to the upper shelves. oh ]

Are you okay?

[ she's whispering, despite how loud the rain of books just was, she's assuming sommmmeeething must have startled the girl, or- something. there must be a very good explanation for this, surely. ]

I-i'm doing my job.

[She never knows how to respond to questions from people she doesn't know, even if she knows they're part of the grand social exchange, so instead she crouches to gather the books that landed on the floor. Re-shelving them was a stupid idea. She should have left them where they were, so no one could read anything she'd written and-

She cuts off the recriminations with an old friend: externalizing her annoyance.]

But that doesn't mean this is part of my job!

Sorry, what? No, I didn't think- [ that dropping the books was part of her job. and she wasn't asking about her job to begin with, she was really just concerned with why books were falling in the first place. but the girl seems flustered, so she shakes her head, starts picking up the books around her without paying much attention to what's on the covers or anything else. she's just trying to be helpful ] As long as you're alright, it's- fine. Really.

I wanted them gone, and now you think I'm an idiot. [Touko's barely looked at Gwen, and when she looks up to slam a stack down onto the table, she finally realizes the other strange part of this.] You're new.
